Ms. Barrett is a Clinical Professor of Finance at the University of San Diego’s School of Business. She teaches graduate courses in Corporate Governance and undergraduate courses in Financial Statement Analysis, Financial Management and Personal Finance.
Ms. Barrett is an active consultant in the field of corporate governance as the founder and CEO of Board Governance Research LLC, which provides independent research on corporate governance practices, board composition and diversity, and corporate director demographics. Her clients include public pension plans, leadership and consulting firms, and nonprofit organizations focused on corporate board diversity and investor education. She is also a Senior Advisor for ValueEdge Advisors, which advises institutional investors regarding effective corporate governance engagement to preserve portfolio value and diminish risk. Ms. Barrett is also on the research team at the 50/50 Climate Project, which works with the 50 largest institutional investors to engage the 50 largest carbon footprint public companies to create effective long-term climate strategies.
In addition, she serves a member of Board of Directors of the Corporate Directors Forum, a San Diego-based a nonprofit promoting high standards of professionalism and ethics in corporate governance. Previously, she has worked in the human resources consulting and public accounting fields.
Ms. Barrett has an MBA, with distinction, from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.
