Betty Thompson is Booz Allen's chief people officer and a member of our firm’s Leadership Team.

As the senior leader of our people services organization, Betty is instrumental in creating our unique, world-class employment experience and ensures we have best-in-class talent to solve our clients’ evolving needs.

Betty is the driving force behind the firm’s people strategy and its alignment to key business imperatives. In addition to overall workforce planning, executive talent strategies and talent management, Betty brings a particular focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and provides executive oversight and support to drive the firm’s DEI strategy and action plan. She is also responsible for culture and change, holistic employee wellness, employee engagement, and technical skill building.

Under Betty’s leadership, Booz Allen has received numerous awards and recognitions for its workplace, culture, employer brand, DEI, and more.

Betty joined the firm in 2008, bringing more than 20 years of experience directing human capital strategy and human resource functions for large corporations. Prior to joining Booz Allen, Betty served as vice president of human resources for Fannie Mae, where she was responsible for all aspects of human resources management and operations. She also developed the company’s people strategy to increase the performance, utilization, and engagement of Fannie Mae’s workforce. Prior to her tenure at Fannie Mae, Betty held several human resource leadership roles at IBM, after holding key line positions in marketing and customer service operations.

Betty is a board member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), and a founding member of Chief DC. She is certified as a SHRM-senior certified professional (SCP) and is NACD directorship-certified.

She has a master’s in human resources and personnel management from American University in Washington, DC.
