Frank J. Krause, Jr., is the Chief Operating Officer of the American Geophysical Union (AGU), where his focus is the fulfillment of the AGU strategic plan and organizational excellence.

A Certified Association Executive, Krause has worked in the association and society industry for 10 years. He utilizes his prior experience in the for profit sector to deliver increased levels of member value through streamlining and enhancing operations, developing new products and services, and promoting member centric cultures.

Prior to joining the AGU, Krause served in various roles at the American Medical Association (AMA) leading the publishing business, physician database management, and customer service teams.  Krause also initiated and developed the business and product development functions for the AMA.  In the for profit sector, Krause worked primarily for RR Donnelley & Sons, then the world’s largest printing and information distribution company, in senior management roles.

A native of the Chicago area, Krause received his Master of Business Administration degree from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

Krause has served in various volunteer roles including the board of directors of Wellness Place, a cancer support organization, and as a visiting lecturer at the University of Illinois in the College of Education organizational development program.
