Harry Wu

Harry Wu is a Senior Advisor to The Conference Board's China Center, specializing in research related to economic growth and productivity analysis, macroeconomic measurement issues and the political economy of the economic reform in China.

Dr. Wu has published and edited books on issues related to China's economic reform. His latest book (co-authored with Leong Liew) is The Making of China's Exchange Rate Policy, published by Edward Elgar in 2007. His research papers have appeared in The Review of Income and Wealth, China Economic Review, and The China Quarterly. He has held visiting fellowships at the Groningen Growth of Development Centre, Groningen University, The Netherlands; The Institute of Economic Research, Hitotsubashi University, Japan; and the Research School of Pacific Asia Studies, Australian National University. He was co-opted council member of the 28th Council of the International Association for Research on Income and Wealth (IARIW). He is currently serving on the editorial board of Review of Income and Wealth, Journal of Chinese Economic and Business Studies and The ICP Bulletin for the World Bank International Comparison Program. He has worked as a consultant on research projects sponsored by various government and international organizations, including China's National Bureau of Statistics, the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Canadian International Development Research Centre, The Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research, and The Conference Board (New York).

Dr. Wu received his BA and MA in economics from the Nankai School of Economics, Nankai University, China. He did his MPhil and PhD research as the UN/DTCD Fellow at the University of Waikato, New Zealand, in 1988-93. He then conducted his post-doctoral research at the University of Adelaide, Australia, in 1993-95.
