The Conference Board
John Messman is Program Director for three councils at The Conference Board: the Career Development Practitioner Council, the Learning Development Executives Council, and the Talent Management III Council. Messman was a member of the Leadership Development Council from 2010 to 2015, where he served on the executive committee providing guidance and counsel on key issues that are critical for member organizations to consider.
Prior to The Conference Board, Messman served as Boeing’s corporate director, leadership development, where he oversaw the design and deployment of executive and manager development curriculum company-wide and led operation of the Boeing Leadership Center.
Prior to this assignment, Messman held various executive and leadership positions within human resources and shared services group functions in labor relations, compensation, staffing, HR generalist, EEO/affirmative action, workers compensation, security & fire protection, travel, food services, and business management. Messman was director, employee relations, responsible for the Eastern region of the United States and Europe, and was the corporate-wide process owner for employee engagement. Messman also spent one year on a developmental assignment in Boeing commercial airplanes operations including tooling, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, fabrication, and major assembly.
Messman has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Wichita State University, an MBA from Webster University, and has been certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). He is also an adjunct professor and a member of the MBA Advisory Board for a local private university where he resides.
