Mabel Rius is the Head of Human Resources for HSBC in the USA and Americas, a subsidiary of HSBC Holdings plc (NYSE:HSBC), one of the world’s largest banking and financial services organizations.

Ms. Rius brings almost 30 years’ of international expertise in the field of human resources and labor relations. Currently as the Head of Human Resources, USA and Americas, Ms. Rius is responsible for the strategic delivery of human capital priorities and human resources operations across HSBC Bank USA, HSBC Bank Canada, and HSBC Latin America, comprising of c. 33,000 colleagues across seven countries.

Since joining the firm in 2010, Ms. Rius has held varying country, regional and global roles across the Human Resources organization. She began her career with HSBC in Buenos Aires, Argentina as the country Head of Human Resources, then shortly thereafter under that remit acquired management oversight of learning, talent, recruitment, and organizational development for Latin America. In 2013, Ms. Rius was appointed as the Head of Human Resources in Latin America with Canada later included under her purview. She has also held the position of Global Head of Talent Acquisition & Onboarding.

Ms. Rius serves as an executive director of HSBC Uruguay Bank and as a non-executive director at the Grace Institute of New York, a non profit organization dedicated to empowering women to achieve employment and economic self-sufficiency. She is a member of the HSBC Global Ethnicity Inclusion Steering Committee committed to taking action towards inclusive behaviours and improving ethnically diverse representation across the organization. She is also an Advisory Board Member to the Balance Employee Resource Group, which promotes gender intelligence.

Prior to joining HSBC, Ms. Rius spent 13 years at The Clorox Company in various multidisciplinary human resources leadership positions, most recently as the Vice President of Human Resources at the Oakland, California headquarters.

Ms. Rius is a graduate from the Universidad del Salvador and the State University of New York where she holds a Master’s degree in Human Resources. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Labor Relations from the Universidad de la Marina Mercante in Argentina. She is married with two children.
