Andy is a Senior Advisor with McKinsey Advanced Industries.  His areas of expertise include global cross-cultural leadership, growth, sales and service excellence, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, pre- and most merger management, business restructuring and repositioning as well as CEO and board coaching.

Until recently, Andy was the CEO of Coherent, Inc (COHR) a leading provider of lasers and laser-based technology which was acquired in July 2022 after a once-in-a-generation three-way public company bidding war generating a nearly 2.5x shareholder return

While at Coherent, Andy strategically repositioned and transformed the company. In ~24 months he guided the company to nearly tripled operating margins – and this during a global pandemic while working primarily virtually.  These efforts laid the foundation for the successful sale of the company

Previously, Andy served as President and CEO of  Diebold Nixdorf (DBD), a multinational financial and retail technology company.  Under Andy’s leadership, the company became the largest ATM provider worldwide, through a re-shifting of the company’s focus to services and software along with the successful execution of one of the largest US-German cross-border corporate mergers.

His executive leadership background includes ~6 years at Hewlett Packard where his roles were SVP Enterprise Services and Chief Sales Officer. Also, Andy spearheaded the post merger integration of EDS into HP. The first 20 years of his career, Andy was at Siemens AG in Germany and the USA, where his assignments culminated in CEO Siemens Communications Systems and Group VP (Bereichsvorstand) Siemens Enterprise Communications.

Additionally, Andy has over 20 years of public board experience in three continents and four countries (USA, Germany, Israel and India) and currently serves on the boards of COHU and amsOSRAM.
