April Bettencourt is the VP, Global Employee Benefits at VSP Vision.  April oversees benefits and payroll administration for VSP Vision’s 13,600 US and 950 Non-US employees.  In addition to VSP Vision insurance, Marchon eyewear and the VSP Optical Labs, VSP Vision includes the 750 Visionworks optical retail stores, as well as iCare and Eye Doctors Optical locations in Florida. 

Joining VSP Vision in 2001 April is responsible for strategic benefits initiatives, such as the move to consumer driven health care plans, a robust wellness program (supporting physical, mental and financial employee wellbeing), and worker’s compensation and disability program improvements.  The positive financial impacts from these initiatives have enabled VSP Vision to continue to offer a low-cost medical plan for employees, employer HSA/HRA contributions, and provide up to a 10% Profit Sharing employer contribution in VSP’s 401(k) Plan.  

April’s 35+ year career in Human Resources (with an emphasis in Benefits Administration) began in 1983.  April has worked for both public and private companies.  April has vast experience in the merger and acquisition space, having worked in the savings & loan and banking industry back in the 1980’s as well as being on the acquisition team at VSP Vision, during various mergers.

A die-hard San Francisco Giants fan!  As a kid, got to see Willie Mays play at Candlestick!  Also love to sing, especially at weddings!
