Bala is Executive Vice President & Chief Human Resources Officer at Greif, Inc. a 144-year-old Fortune 1000 global leader in industrial packaging products and services operating over 224 locations in 37 countries. He is focused on delivering a world-class, diverse, and engaged workforce that can execute on Greif’s vision of be the best performing customer service company in the world. 

Prior to joining Greif, Bala was an Executive Vice President at Xerox Corporation where he headed Human Resources for the Technology Business and Corporate functions. Previously, Bala lead Human Resources for Hewlett-Packard’s Americas Enterprise Business organization.  Earlier in his career Bala held positions of increasing responsibility at Avaya Inc., Polaris Software, Inc., Coca-Cola, and United Technologies/Otis Elevator Company.

Bala holds a Master of Human Resources Management (MHRM) degree from Rutgers University in New Jersey, an MBA in General Management and BS in Electronics & Communications Engineering from the University of Madras in India. In addition, he graduated from the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School.

Bala serves as Chairman, and Board Director for Balmer Lawrie – Van Leer Limited, a publicly-traded industrial manufacturer. He also serves as a Director on the board of Columbus Council for World Affairs, an education-driven, not-for-profit organization, in addition to serving on the advisory board of Center for Executive Compensation at Washington D.C.

Bala was named to the list of Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business by the Asian American Business Development Center (AABDC) and Executive of the Year by Columbus CEO Magazine.
