Ben Kemper, Senior Human Resources Manager, leads the Employee Benefits Division in the County of Los Angeles Department of Human Resources (DHR). His team administers health and welfare benefits for over 111,000 County employees. On July 21, 2020, the County Board of Supervisors adopted the Anti-Racism, Diversity, and Inclusion Initiative (ARDI) providing additional momentum to fuel DHR’s long-standing goal to eliminate racial bias and inequity in health care delivery and outcomes. Ben serves on DHR’s ARDI Team and on the Countywide ARDI Narrative and Communications Workgroup. Ben believes deeply that employers must help repair racial inequities in health care — to achieve this, they must partner with insurers and delivery systems and hold them accountable for change.
