Catherine Hill, Ph.D. (she/her) is a social scientist with expertise in women and gender in the workplace. She has been the principal investigator for three National Science Foundation resulting in academic and popular publications, including Why So Few? Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics and other reports exploring women in education and the workforce. Her work has been featured in major media outlets, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and National Public Radio (NPR).

Dr. Hill has more than 25 years of work experience at organizations including the Women’s Bureau in the U.S. Department of Labor, the Institute for Women’s Policy Research, the

Women’s Caucus in the Maryland State Legislature, and the American Association of University Women. Early in her career, she was a professor at the University of Virginia and currently teaches part-time in the Women’s, Gender, and Sexualities Studies program at George Washington University.

She lives with her husband Mark and dog Juno in Takoma Park, Maryland.
