Senior Economist
Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry
Chaker El Mostafa is a senior macro-economist that spent the last 10 years covering MENA economies, with a strong focus on the GCC. Through impactful advisory, research, and analytical contributions, he has helped shape over a period of 7 years the economic views of the MENA’s 6th largest bank by asset size, and currently dedicates his time advising Kuwaiti policy makers on economic issues and lobbying on behalf of the private sector through his work as an Economic Expert at the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Chaker’s work focuses on understanding the impediments faced by GCC countries in developing self-sustaining private sectors. This has seen him venture into the labor economics, financial markets development, public finance programming, productivity performance, and industrial policy designs of these oil exporting states. He is also working towards developing reliable and forecastable high frequency indicators that allow for more accurate national account forecasts in the MENA region. He holds both a master’s and an honours degree in economics from the University of Ottawa.
