Charles Montreuil is Senior Vice President of Total Rewards at Best Buy. He oversees all aspects of compensation, benefits, well-being, and HR operations for the Fortune 50 global organization.

Since joining Best Buy in 2008, he has held roles responsible for the oversight of HR business partners, talent acquisition, global mobility, organization effectiveness, learning and development, and HR technology. Charles is recognized as an innovative leader for developing a supportive culture and comprehensive benefits to help employees with their mental well-being, caregiving roles, and financial support during times of economic need.

Charles practiced corporate law for several years after receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Studies from St. Cloud University and his Juris Doctorate from William Mitchell College of Law. He then pursued a Master’s Degree in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from the Carlson School of Management. Prior to joining Best Buy, he oversaw HR and Total Rewards at Carlson Companies.

As a member of the Minnesota Governor’s Health Task Force for over 14 years, Charles has been instrumental in writing legislation for health care payment reforms and advocating for marketplace competition, improved care quality, and cost savings for consumers and employers. As past president of the Bridges to Excellence program, a Minneapolis-based employer coalition, he pioneered a program to provide funding to medical clinics for Type II diabetes research.

Charles is a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Employee Benefits Committee, the Employment Law and Employee Benefits Sections of the Minnesota Bar Association, and the Advisory Board for Carlson School of Management Center for Human Resources and Labor Studies. He holds certifications from the Center for Effective Organizations at USC Davis and the Society for Human Resource Management (Senior Certified Professional).

Charles is committed to giving back to the community, participating in several nonprofit boards including Project Success, the Allina Health Systems Philanthropy Committee and Black Men Teach. He has previously served as board member of the Minneapolis Film Institute, the Sauk River Chain of Lakes Association, and the St. Cloud State Alumni Board.

Charles and his wife live in Lakeville, MN and enjoy spending time with their two sons and grandson.
