Doug is the Chairman and CEO of NFP, a leading insurance broker and consultant that provides property and casualty, benefits and life, and wealth and retirement solutions. He advances initiatives that ensure NFP is synonymous with a leading, full-capability global insurance broker, consultant and wealth manager that cares deeply about the well-being of its employees and clients.

Doug has over 25 years of experience in executive management, operations, underwriting and law. He joined NFP in 1999 and held several senior leadership positions before becoming Chairman and CEO in 2013. Prior to NFP, Doug practiced corporate law at a national firm, where he represented NFP’s founding capital partner before and during NFP’s startup phase.

In 2013, Doug led NFP’s pivotal $1.4 billion go-private transaction with Madison Dearborn Partners LLC (MDP), a leading private equity firm. He subsequently led several recapitalizations of NFP and as of September 30, 2022, the company was valued at $8.6 billion.

Under Doug’s leadership, NFP’s revenue has grown to over $2.2 billion, placing the company among the world’s top brokers. With 7,500+ team members globally, Doug is especially proud that NFP has been recognized by Business Insurance as one of the best places to work in insurance for six consecutive years.

In addition to his role at NFP, Doug serves a variety of organizations whose activities align with the business and his focus on community impact. He is a Trustee of his alma mater, Fairfield University, and Northwell Health, and serves on the Board of Directors of The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers.

Doug is also a member of MDP’s Industry Advisory Group for the Financial and Transaction Services Sector and the CEO Commission for Disability Employment. He has signed the Paradigm for Parity pledge, a commitment to increase the number of women in senior operating roles, and is a Board Member for the Nassau County Police Department Foundation.

Doug and NFP also actively support organizations around the world focused on advancing community well-being and assisting those in need. In addition, he co-authored Reinsurance Law, a leading subscription treatise on reinsurance practice and legal trends.

Doug received his bachelor’s degree from Fairfield University and law degree from St. John's University School of Law.
