Howard Atkins has nearly 40 years of experience in financial services, including more than 20 years as CFO for banking and insurance institutions. 

Howard currently serves on the Board of Directors for Daktronics a leading global designer/supplier of large format LED displays and digital billboards in sports, business and transportation applications, and Lake Resources – a state of the art developer of clean, high purity lithium. 

 

He has served on the boards of Occidental Petroleum Corp. and Ingram Micro, the world’s largest technology distribution and logistics company (sold to HNA in 2016). 

In his role as CFO from 2001-2011, Howardwas responsible for Wells Fargo's financial management functions (including controllers, financial reporting, tax management, asset-liability management, treasury, corporate development, investor relations, mergers and acquisitions), its investment portfolios (including fixed income, venture capital and private equity investments) and its corporate properties functions.  

Other CFO roles prior to Wells Fargo include at New York Life Insurance Company from 1996 and 2001 in which he was responsible for financial management and information technology. Between 1991 and 1996 at Midlantic Corporation, a large regional bank, he helped lead that bank's financial restructuring and return to profitable growth before its merger with PNCBank Corp.  

He began his career at Chase Manhattan Bank, where he spent 17 years in progressively responsible positions, including leading its foreign exchange, precious metals, and capital markets business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. At Chase he also served as head of Global Derivatives and as Corporate Treasurer.  

Howard received a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics at City College, New York and a Master’s Degree in Economics from Ohio State University.
