George S. Barrett is the former executive chairman of Cardinal Health, Inc., a Fortune 21 healthcare services company dedicated to improving the cost-effectiveness of health care. He served as chairman and CEO of Cardinal Health, Inc. from 2009 to 2017.
Previously, Barrett served as CEO of Teva North America and corporate executive vice president of Teva’s global pharmaceutical markets. Before becoming president and CEO of Teva Pharmaceuticals USA in 1999, Barrett was president of U.S. pharmaceuticals at Alpharma Inc. and president of NMC Laboratories prior to its acquisition by Alpharma.
Barrett serves on the boards of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He is a member of the Healthcare Leadership Council, the Business Council, and the Columbus Partnership. He serves on the board of trustees of the Corporation of Brown University, and is a vice chair of The Conference Board. Barrett is past chairman of the board of directors of the Generic Pharmaceutical Industry Association (GPhA).
Barrett was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award of Excellence in Global Business from New York University’s Stern School of Business. He earned his bachelor of arts degree from Brown University and an MBA from New York University.
