John K. Hughes is a partner in the mergers and acquisitions group and private-equity group at Sidley Austin LLP. He practices out of the Washington, D.C., office, where he heads the corporate group. For 25 years, he has represented clients in M&A and private-equity transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, take-privates, recapitalizations and restructurings, strategic investments (minority and majority), cross-border transactions, joint ventures, debt and equity financings, and commercial lending. He also represents investment banks in their role as financial advisor to companies, boards, and special committees on M&A-related engagements, and as providers of fairness opinions.
