Peter C. Davis

Senior Advisor
Boston Consulting Group

Peter (“Pete”) C. Davis is an investor, Board member and consultant in the education and information services space. He has served for the past three years as Senior Advisor to Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and consultant to Acxiom Inc., a big data marketing services provider.

Prior to joining BCG, Pete served as President of McGraw-Hill Education and EVP of Global Strategy and Development for The McGraw-Hill Companies. As a result of his strategic leadership at McGraw, the parent company committed to a 5-year portfolio restructuring that divested the legacy media and education businesses and focused exclusively on the financial and energy/commodities information sectors – the stock quadrupled.

In the education role at McGraw, a $2.7 billion set of businesses, Pete launched market leading digital learning platforms in both higher education and the K-12 space, as well as launching the top formative assessment offering in the market. The business was subsequently divested as part of the portfolio-restructuring plan that he had developed several years earlier.

After leaving McGraw at the end of 2010, Mr. Davis returned to management consulting where he worked as a Senior Advisor for McKinsey & Company for two years. At both McKinsey and BCG, Pete advised the firms’ private equity and TMT clients, including Goldman Sachs, Apollo, KKR and Searchlight Capital.

During this period, Pete also worked independently advising mid-middle private equity firms including MidOcean Partners and Madison Dearborn Partners (MDP). He recently moderated a roundtable discussion for MDP, where the topic was opportunities in information services and attendees included 25 CEOs and C-suite executives from leading companies in the sector.

Prior to line management experience at McGraw-Hill, Pete served in various senior consulting roles at The MAC Group, in Cambridge and Booz Allen & Hamilton, where he rose to become a senior partner and practice leader in the New York office.

Mr. Davis also currently serves on the Greenwich Associates Board of Advisors, a capital markets focused information consulting firm.

He did his undergraduate studies in History and English at Rutgers College, where he was a Henry Rutgers Scholar, captain of the track and cross country teams and won All America honors in cross country. He subsequently earned an MBA, with honors, from the Johnson School of Management at Cornell University.

He resides in Darien, Connecticut with his wife Susan Maxwell, an interior designer, three college age children and four dogs.
