Jamal Lopez is the Vice President of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) for Burlington Stores (Burlington).  In this role, Jamal manages the DE&I operations for all field and store operations and partners with various organizational leaders to create alignment and support for diversity programs. 

Jamal has been working in the field of Diversity for more than 14 years and prior to working at Burlington has held various leadership positions in Human Resources and DE&I for Weill Cornell Medicine/NY Presbyterian Hospital, Consolidated Edison, NYC Human Resources Administration, NYC Department of Education, and the NYC Transit, Office of Equal Employment Opportunity.  Early in Jamal’s career he also served as a Social Worker for the NYC Administration for Children’s Services and a Police Officer for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  

Jamal holds a Juris Doctor from New York Law School and is licensed to practice law in New Jersey.  Jamal is also a graduate of the City University of New York (CUNY) John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and a Master of Public Administration degree in Human Resource Management.

Jamal holds certifications from the Institute for Diversity Certification, (Certified Diversity Professional), Society for Human Resource Management, (SHRM- SCP), and Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations, Human Resource Studies.
