Jan joined Georgia Power in 2003 as a registered nurse in the Health Services Department. In 2004 she became the first Wellness Coordinator of Georgia Power and helped design and implement SouthernLifeStyle, the first comprehensive companywide health and wellness program. In 2008, she became the Manager of Health & Well-being Services. Her responsibilities include four onsite occupational health clinics staffed by registered nurses, administrative and health professionals focused on health and total well-being initiatives, injury and illness along with other clinical features as well as health promotion and health management. She is responsible for health promotion and well-being strategy, leading a team of professionals to design and deliver initiatives to impact individual well-being and create a culture and environment that supports employee well-being. Initiatives include a comprehensive lab program, sleep health, functional movement, health coaching, health education and awareness and preventive screenings for employees and their dependents. Additionally, incentive programs, fitness facilities, healthy meetings/vending, onsite wellness physicals and others impact individual well-being and culture to create a supportive environment for employees. Currently, SouthernLifeStyle is promoted across the Southern Company system to impact the safety, health and well-being of employees and their families. SouthernLifeStyle has received multiple honors and awards including NBGH Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles, the Atlanta Business Chronicle for Atlanta’s Healthiest Employer and the Kaiser Corporate Challenge Most Fit company.


Prior to joining Georgia Power, Jan worked in a hospital setting for over 20 years specializing in critical care and coronary care nursing. In addition to obtaining certification in critical care, she served as a critical care educator for the medical staff. Her experience also includes diabetes education, basic and advanced life support instruction and community education. She graduated from Columbus State in Columbus, Georgia receiving her nursing degree and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Business Administration from The University of Alabama.
