Joan Stone

Joan Stone joined VMware in December 2009 and currently serves as senior vice president and chief communications officer. Bringing more than 25 years of strategic communications experience in the technology industry, Stone leads the company’s global communications team responsible for building and promoting the overall reputation of VMware. Her responsibilities include media relations, industry analyst relations, employee communications, global impact communications, and integrated storytelling. Her team is the custodian of the corporate narrative, building brand awareness, influencer engagement and advocacy. Prior to joining VMware in 2009, Stone held senior roles at a series of communications agencies including CXO Communication, A&R Partners, and Citigate Cunningham where she consulted technology companies including Adobe, Cisco Systems, HP, Motorola and Sun Microsystems. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
