John McMackin, PhD

John is an Assistant Professor in HRM and Organisational Behaviour at Dublin City University Business School and Chairperson of the School’s MSc in Talent, leadership, and HR Strategy programme. He was Director of Executive and International Education at the School from 2011 to 2016. John researches and teaches on a range of management topics with a particular focus on leadership skills, Agile HRM and performance management. He also lectures on summer programmes at the University of Ljubljana.

Prior to his association with DCU John enjoyed a successful banking career in Dublin, London, and New York. He holds an MBA from Columbia University, New York, and a Ph.D. from the University of Oregon.

During 2021 John’s research has been published in leading journals including Sloan Management Review, Human Resource Management Journal, Journal of Management Studies and Human Resource Management Review.
