Julie is the Chief Sustainability Officer of Olam Group and Olam Agri, a leading agri-business with a mission to transform agriculture for a more sustainable and food secure future.

With a career spanning over 15 years across Africa and Asia, Julie champions responsible private sector development as a means to socio-economic progress. Her passion for bringing out people’s potential has led her to launch a women’s network for Olam in Africa, promote social cohesion through art in Sierra Leone and teach prisoners in the United States.

Julie spearheads the 2030 Sustainability Goals and strategies aross Olam’s multiple businesses and geographies. Her responsibiliies include integrating sustainability principles across the business, collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders to realise these goals.

Prior to her role as Chief Sustainability Officer, Julie was managing Olam’s cotton business in Côte d’Ivoire. In a span of five years, she built a business that positively impacted the livelihoods of over 15,000 farming families. The success of the business was featured in the Financial Times “This is Africa” and recognised as a finalist by the Responsible Business Awards in 2016. It was also featured in BBC presenter Conor Woodman’s book titled “Unfair Trade” as an example of ethical and sustainable business growth. 

Julie established her career in transformative social and community development initiatives in Sierra Leone, including village infrastructure projects with German development cooperation GIZ and relief programmes at the International Rescue Committee.

Julie serves as Chairperson of the African Cotton Foundation and previously represented Olam on the boards of Better Cotton Initiative and ComCashew. She holds an MBA from HEC, University of Geneva, and a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Dartmouth College, U.S.A. 

A resident of West Africa for nearly two decades, Julie resides in Singapore as of 2022.
