A seasoned communicator with nearly 20 years’ experience in the nonprofit, public and private sectors, Katie Hill joined the National Football League in May 2021 as senior vice president of communications, directing global communications strategy for America's most popular sport. Prior to joining the NFL, Hill served as communications director for former President Barack Obama from 2017-2021. She guided President Obama’s public profile in his post-presidency, helping to advise on his political campaigning and to lead the launch of his political memoir, defending his legacy, and serving as his spokesperson to the media, among other duties. She served in the Obama administration as national press secretary at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services before joining the White House as assistant press secretary and spokesperson for a variety of policy issues, including health care, education, veterans’ issues, and the Council on Women and Girls. She has also worked on Capitol Hill, on political campaigns and at a strategic communications firm. She was named one of OUT Magazine’s “Out 100” honorees in 2016, alongside her White House colleagues, for their work to advance LGBTQ+ equality; to Outsports’ “Power 100” list in 2023 and 2024; and to PRWeek’s “Power 50” list in 2024. A Nashville native, she graduated from the University of Virginia with a bachelor’s degree in classical Greek, where she was an Echols Scholar. Hill lives in Manhattan with her wife, Andrea.
