Head of Diversity and Inclusion Australia and New Zealand
ISS World Services

Currently the Head of Diversity and Inclusion in Pacific, I have a strong background in operations throughout my career.

Having worked in the services industry for over 30 years specialising in cleaning, landscaping, security and maintenance operations, my passion has always been focussed on service excellence and customer/ Placemaker (employee) relationships.

Starting my career as a cleaner has allowed me to form a greater understanding of what service delivery is and how challenging it can be. It has also enabled me to develop strong bonds with people across various cultural backgrounds, levels of education, differing races, language groups, abilities, generations and social origins. Having started at the operational front line working my way through to an executive role has provided a level of credibility with our placemakers as they know, that I know, how difficult their jobs can be. I am proud of my employment origins and feel confident that this has provided me with broad experience and appreciation of the diverse range of people who work within our industry.

I have worked predominately for two organisations across my career but have always changed roles every 3-5 years. This approach has provided reciprocal benefit between my employer and I, whereby I am supported with growth and educational opportunities whilst providing a return on investment through service excellence, contract renewals, financial returns, positive customer relationships and an inclusive work environment for our placemakers. I have worked in, and managed the following sectors:

  • Banking and Finance
  • Commercial
  • Retail
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Telecommunications
  • Food production
  • Hospitality
  • Leisure
  • Aviation and Transport
  • Government
  • Health
  • Education

Since 2018, I had been working as the National General Manager in our Transport and Infrastructure Division managing Aviation cleaning services and in 2021, I was approached by our Pacific CEO to discuss a new opportunity within the business.

This opportunity was a newly designed role completely dedicated to the development of culture, inclusion and belonging within our organisation. A great opportunity to apply the existing skillset I had developed over my career but also to learn and be guided by experts such as Margot Slattery.

Head of Diversity and Inclusion Pacific has propelled my learning into a different stratosphere. I am always humbled by the professional experience of others, and look upon it as an opportunity to accelerate my personal development but most importantly make a difference for others. At various stages throughout my career I have been involved in D&I initiatives driving change to make workplaces more equitable and inclusive and this role is an extension of that ethos.

My immediate goals over the next two years is to help embed ISS’ new employee value proposition which aims to achieve an “employer of belonging” goal.

Providing safe, equitable, respectful workplace where employees can be their authentic selves is always my primary motivator.
