Kyle Petersen is a partner in the Chicago office of Seyfarth Shaw, specializing in Labor & Employment law. Kyle has extensive experience counseling employers on compliance with a wide range of employment laws, including the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and federal and state discrimination laws. She regularly revises and prepares policies designed to achieve compliance with these myriad employment statutes, reviews employment contracts, and conducts internal investigations.  Kyle also devotes a significant portion of her practice to representing employers across the United States in court litigation and administrative matters arising under federal and state wage and hour laws (e.g., overtime, exempt classification, independent contractor classification, meal and rest breaks, and expense reimbursement), and is a chapter author of the definitive treatise on wage and hour litigation, Wage & Hour Collective and Class Litigation. Kyle also regularly provides preventative counseling and works with employers to minimize their exposure to investigation and litigation under the Fair Labor Standards Act and state wage and hour laws. Additionally, Kyle works with employers across a variety of industries – from finance to logistics to manufacturing to retail and SaaS companies – to develop and implement incentive compensation plans that balance the need to drive desired business results with legal compliance. In all of her work, Kyle partners with clients to develop business-oriented legal solutions and successfully defend and resolve employee lawsuits.
