Laurie Schalow joined Chipotle in 2017. As the Chief Corporate Affairs and Food Safety Officer, Ms. Schalow oversees all internal and external communications, stakeholder engagement, sustainability, customer service, social listening, food safety and quality assurance for the brand’s 3,000 restaurants in the U.S., Canada and Europe. Additionally, Ms. Schalow is responsible for oversight of The Chipotle Cultivate Foundation, where she serves as President. Recognized for her work and dedication to furthering the communications industry, Ms. Schalow was named to Business Insider’s ‘Most Influential PR Pros’ list (2021, 2020), Fast Casual’s Top Movers and Shakers (2021), PRNews’ Top Women in PR (2021), and received PR Week’s ‘Most Purposeful In-House Communicator’ Award (2020). Ms. Schalow was also selected as the American Business Award Gold Stevie® winner (2020) in the Communications and PR Executive of the Year category. Ms. Schalow’s award winning campaigns have received international recognition during the Reuters Ethical Corporation Responsible Business Awards and PRovoke Media’s Global SABRE Awards. Prior to joining Chipotle, Ms. Schalow was Vice President of Public Affairs for Yum! Brands, overseeing global corporate social responsibility, public relations, crisis management, social listening and community diversity programs for the 44,000 KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell restaurants in 140 countries. Ms. Schalow holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business from Miami University and received her Master of Business Administration from Case Western Reserve and Wayne State University. Ms. Schalow is active in volunteer work and currently serves on the Board of Directors for The Muhammad Ali Center and the National Restaurant Association. Ms. Schalow is also an advisory board member for Wine Country Women as well as a member of the Fast Company Impact Council, Forbes Communications Council and the International Women’s Forum.
