Dr. Marco Aurisicchio

Associate Professor in Engineering Design
Dyson School of Design Engineering at Imperial College

Tutor in the Innovation Design Engineering joint-programme between Imperial and the Royal College of Art, Co-Leader of the Ocean Plastic Solutions Network, and Imperial Leader for the Ellen MacArthur Foundation university programme.

He is a founding member of the Dyson School of Design Engineering where he has held the posts of Director of Research and Director of Postgraduate Studies. Marco joined the School from the Mechanical Engineering Department at Imperial where he was appointed Lecturer and promoted to Senior Lecturer. During his time at Imperial he was awarded a Design Fellowship funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council. Prior to joining Imperial, Marco was a Research Associate in the Engineering Design Centre at the University of Cambridge where he undertook his PhD in Engineering Design. During his doctoral and postdoctoral research, he worked within BAE Systems and Rolls-Royce University Technology Partnership for Design. He received a Laurea in Mechanical Engineering from the Universita’ degli Studi di Roma "La Sapienza".

Marco is currently principal investigator on two Procter & Gamble and EPSRC iCASE projects in the area of closed loops systems for Fast Moving Consumer Goods, and co-investigator on the new EPSRC UKRI ‘Holistic Integration of Technology, Design and Policy for a Greener Plastic Future’ project. He has collaborated with multiple agencies and organisations including EPSRC, AHRC, P&G, Nestlé, Rolls-Royce, NASA, Laing O’Rourke, NHS, and CERN, and has published over 100 refereed papers.

Marco has also recently joined the Technical Steering Group of the Plastic Free City London Campaign.
