Marie Martin, Ph.D., AVP, Site Lead, MSD Carlow Ireland Marie is the Site Lead for MSD Carlow, Ireland. Marie is a member of MSD Global Biologics Operations and Ireland’s Country leadership teams. Marie joined MSD Carlow in 2008 as the Commissioning and Qualification Lead for the build and startup of the Carlow site. Since then, she has held multiple roles across the company supporting a variety of sites across Europe including technical Engineering, Quality, Operations and Commercialization before being appointed site Lead in September 2019. Marie completed a bachelor’s degree and Doctorate in Chemistry from University College Dublin (UCD) and also holds a master’s Degree in Industrial Pharmaceutical Sciences from College of Surgeons, Dublin & Sligo IT. Marie has over 20 years’ experience working in the pharmaceutical industry in Ireland, starting her career as a Validation Engineer and Process Engineer. She has held a wide range of roles in validation, commissioning, and qualification, supporting multiple pharmaceutical projects across Ireland and Europe. Marie works closely with external organizations to promote D&I and in particular the promotion of opportunities for women in STEM. She has also worked with colleges within Ireland to develop academic courses that align with industry needs.
