Matt Desch has been CEO of Iridium Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: IRDM), since 2006.  He has more than 45 years of experience in the telecom industry and was an early pioneer in the global wireless industry. He is responsible for leading Iridium, the world’s leading public commercial low earth orbiting (LEO) satellite operator, providing mobile communications to the maritime, aviation, defense, emergency response and IoT industries, among others. Before joining Iridium, Matt was the CEO of New Jersey-based Telcordia Technologies, Inc, a telecom software and services firm now part of Ericsson.  Previously he served as President of Nortel Networks in Richardson, Texas.  He started his career in software development at AT&T Bell Laboratories. Mr. Desch is a member of the US President’s National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee (NSTAC).  He is also on the board of directors of Unisys (NYSE: UIS), a global IT services firm.  An active fixed wing and helicopter pilot, he is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association (AOPA), and on the board of the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum.  Matt earned a B.S. degree in Computer Science from The Ohio State University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
