Matthew Knight, RD, LDN

Matt Knight is the programming curator for the veteran’s health administration (VHA) innovation ecosystem. He brings a unique background and diverse skillset to his role as a leader in innovation within VHA.

Matt’s career started at one of the “Big Five” accounting firms in the early 2000’s as the Enron scandal rocked the financial world. He spent 10 years working as a certified public accountant culminating in a role in corporate finance with a Fortune 500 company before he decided to switch professions and join the VHA in 2013.

Matt’s VA journey started with the nutrition and food service where he worked as a clinical registered dietitan. He provided individual nutritional and behavioral counseling to veterans and taught group education classes as part of a weight management and healthy eating program.

Matt joined the VA innovation team in the summer of 2020 during the height of the COVID19 pandemic. He immediately recognized that his understanding of the business world and his clinical expertise were assets that helped him to break down silos and empower passionate employees to bring their innovative ideas to life.

Today Matt works tirelessly to support and develop innovative programming and cultivate a culture of innovation within the VA. He is excited to be here and presenting today.
