The following is a bio of a former employee/consultant
Merel Spierings is a Senior Researcher for the ESG Center where she writes publications on corporate governance and related ESG topics, including benchmarking reports, thematic pieces stemming from executive convenings, and thought-leadership pieces. Her research and commentary have been featured in Financial Times, Fortune, Forbes, Reuters, Bloomberg, and Politico.
She joined The Conference Board in 2017 as Engagement Manager and later became Program Manager. Prior to joining The Conference Board, Merel was with the Society for Corporate Governance and with CamberView Partners, a boutique advisory firm representing public companies in situations involving shareholder engagement and activism.
She began her career with ABN AMRO Bank at the Corporate Office, where she worked with the Chair of the Board and reported to the Corporate Secretary. She also co-led the global reorganization of the bank's compliance department.
Merel earned a master's degree in Law with honors from Leiden University and a master's degree in Business Studies with honors from the University of Amsterdam.
