Reporting to the Chief People Officer and a member of the People Senior Leadership Team at Rio Tinto, as Global Head of Reward Mike Coventry is responsible for Group-wide reward governance and strategy, including short-term and long-term incentive plan design, annual remuneration cycles and other global projects as required covering our executive and employee remuneration, share plans, benefits, global mobility and recognition areas of expertise.

Mike has 25 + years in strategic and operational reward experience across a range of in-house and consulting roles, including the last 15 years in the two largest global and dual-listed mining companies in Rio Tinto and BHP.

Mike has a deep experience of partnering with senior executives in global businesses to align overall reward strategy with broader business agenda, whilst considering the pressures of cost, market volatility, regulation, and internal and external stakeholder expectations.
