Dr. Millicent Ruffin is senior director of Community Impact & Investment. In this role, Millicent directs all community engagements, investments, and philanthropic efforts for Corning Incorporated. Her leadership optimizes the company’s impact in three key areas: economic development, philanthropy & volunteerism and social equity.
Previously, Millicent was director of Community Affairs in the Office of Racial Equality and Social Unity. In this role, Millicent led the development and execution of programs that address the racial inequality and socioeconomic disparities in the communities where Corning operates. This includes identifying opportunities for Corning to support diversity training and cultural initiatives within local school systems, economic growth stimulation in underserved communities and access to quality healthcare for the underinsured.
Millicent holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Furman University and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Michigan. She and her husband, Dr. A. Boh Ruffin, have both worked for Corning for 23 years. They have 3 sons and 2 dogs. Millicent enjoys cycling and running in her free time.
