Nira Johri is KFC’s Chief Sustainability Officer. She is responsible for leading KFC’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) agenda across the pillars of People and Communities, Chicken and Nutrition, and Climate and Supply Chain.  Our global “Done the Right Way” ESG strategy is an enterprise-wide business imperative, cross-functional priority and is absolutely essential in ensuring we position KFC as a modern, trusted, feel-good brand.

Nira joined KFC from Rich Products Corporation (Rich’s), where as Vice President of Global Inclusion and Sustainability she defined an enterprise-wide sustainability vision, strategy and branding for their $5 billion global bakery and frozen food business.  With her leadership, Rich’s accelerated cost-savings reduction projects with environmental impact, established its first carbon reduction goal and gained industry, customer and public disclosure recognition for its progress. 

Prior to Rich’s, Nira held several leadership roles across World Cocoa Foundation, Unilever, the United States Department of Defense, and served in the Obama administration championing Asia-Pacific policy Throughout her career, Nira has been a passionate supporter of the development of women leaders.  She is the Board Chair for Equal Origins, a non-profit dedicated to gender equity in cocoa and coffee supply chains and was named a top 100 DEI Executive by Diversity MBA. 

Nira earned her BS in Marketing and BA in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland.  She holds an MBA from the University of Cambridge and recently completed an Executive Certificate in Sustainability Leadership from Harvard University.
