Rachel Kay is the Chief People Officer of the Hearst Corporation, a global diversified media and information services company headquartered in New York City. At Hearst, Rachel oversees the teams that lead talent strategy, learning & development, talent acquisition, HR technology, and employee engagement across Hearst’s seven major divisions (ranging from consumer media to healthcare to financial services). Rachel joined Hearst in 2019 after nearly two decades at McKinsey & Company, the global management consultancy.  She started at McKinsey as a consultant in 2001 and worked with for-profit, not-for-profit, and government clients on a range of organizational and strategic topics. She then transitioned into talent management roles for McKinsey itself, leading internal teams responsible undergraduate recruiting, diversity recruiting, professional development, and partner elections and evaluations.

Rachel has an undergraduate degree in history from Harvard College and a JD from Columbia Law School.
