Career Highlights

Samantha Esquivias is a dual boarded Nurse Practitioner in the specialties of Family Practice and Psychiatry/Mental Health. She pursued a master’s degree specializing as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Grand Canyon University and then went on to complete a post-master’s certificate as a Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with Creighton University. Prior to achieving her degrees in family practice and psychiatry, she completed a bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration and a master’s in Business Administration (MBA).

Samantha has experience managing complex clinical programs and leading multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes and streamline processes. She has a strong focus on integrating behavioral health, including addiction services, with primary care.

Clinically, she has an extensive experience work with patients in all levels of care including inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, and outpatient for both medical and psychiatry. Her specialties are in Addiction Medicine and Sleep Medicine. She has experience in all modalities of Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) as well as detoxification services. She also specializes in insomnia treatment using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and pharmacotherapy.

Samantha currently oversees a large behavioral health department at a local Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). However, she has extensive experience oversee a multitude of different services including Opioid Treatment Centers (OTPs), Serious Mental Illness (SMI), and provider education and advancement. She functioned as Medical Director for Utilization Management overseeing medical necessity denial management and staff/provider training.

Samantha also serves a treasurer for the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Arizona chapter and an expert consultant for investigation for the Arizona State Board of Nursing. She has experience service as a committee member for the Arizona State Board of Nursing and Adjunct Faculty for Grand Canyon University.
