Scott DeRue is the Chief Executive Officer of The IRONMAN Group, as well as a member of the IRONMAN Group board of directors. Prior to his appointment as CEO in January 2024, he served as president of Equinox.

DeRue is a member of the board of trustees of The Conference Board. DeRue is also co-founder and managing partner at Rabun Group, a private equity firm, and Chibor Angels, a venture capital firm.

During his tenure at Equinox, DeRue led the company through significant rebuilding and growth to achieve record-level operating performance and engagement. Prior to joining Equinox, DeRue was the Dean of the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. He was recognized as one of the 50 most influential business professors in the world. DeRue is an accomplished adventurer and mountaineer. He is dedicated to creating life-changing experiences that help people discover and maximize their potential.

Early in his career, DeRue worked in private equity and management consulting. He received his PhD in management from Michigan State University, and was awarded a University Distinguished Fellowship. He earned his bachelor of science in Business Administration with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
