Susan A. Thornton is a former career U.S. diplomat who served as Acting Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs from 2017-18.  She is currently Director of Asia Programs at the National Committee on American Foreign Policy. Thornton is also a Senior Fellow at Yale Law School’s Paul Tsai China Center and a non-resident fellow at the Brookings Institution.
