Program Director, Philanthropy & Engagement Council
Tony Tapia is the Program Director for The Conference Board Philanthropy & Engagement Council. Tony has over 25 years of experience working in the nonprofit, philanthropic, and corporate sectors. Prior to Bridging Worlds, Tony was the Senior Program Director for the Western Union Foundation. He led the foundation’s global-giving programs for economic development and immigrant integration and led key partnerships with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
Previously, Tony was the director of grant making for the Gill Foundation, where he oversaw funding to social justice and human service nonprofit organizations in the United States. Prior to his work at the Gill Foundation, Tony was the Senior Director of Cultural Participation Programs at the Association of Performing Arts Presenters in Washington, DC. In that capacity, he directed a grant making program that supported artists’ residencies, and engaged communities in the performing arts in the United States.
Tony currently serves as a trustee of the Bright Mountain Foundation and Borealis Philanthropy. He has served on numerous boards including Hispanics in Philanthropy, Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees, the Latin American Research and Services Agency, and Funders for Lesbian and Gay Issues.
