Victoria Harker serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for TEGNA Inc., formerly Gannett Co., Inc. She was named Chief Financial Officer at Gannett in July of 2012. Victoria is responsible for all of TEGNA’s financial functions and operations worldwide.

Before joining Gannett, Harker served as CFO and president of global business services of the AES Corporation, a multinational power company with consolidated 2012 revenues of $17 billion and assets of $45 billion operating in 28 countries. She joined AES in 2006, where she successfully led the re-engineering of the company’s capital structure through $3 billion in mergers and acquisitions, $1.8 billion in debt refinancings and $300 million in share repurchases, allowing the company to initiate its first-ever dividend in 2011. While at AES, Victoria managed the finance and business services operations worldwide, including information technology, sourcing, risk, and trading operations.

Before joining AES, Victoria was Acting CFO and Treasurer of MCI from November 2002 through January 2006, and served as CFO of MCI Group from 1998 to 2002. Victoria also held several positions at MCI within the consumer and small business divisions in finance, information technology, and operations between 1990 and 1998.

In addition, Victoria is Chair of the Compensation Committee and serves on the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors of Huntington Ingalls Industries, the $7 billion builder of ships and submarines for the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard. She also serves as Chair of the Audit Committee as well as a member of the Leadership Development and Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors of Xylem, Inc. (formally ITT), a $4 billion global water infrastructure company. She previously served from 2009 through 2014 on the Finance and Audit Committees of the Board of Directors of Darden Restaurants, Inc., the $12 billion parent of the Capital Grille, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Seasons 52, Long Horn, and Bahama Breeze casual dining restaurants, where she was Chairman of the Audit Committee.

Victoria was appointed to the University of Virginia’s Board of Visitors, where she chaired the Finance Committee and was a member of the Executive Committee as well as the Special Committee on Governance, and the Committee on the University of Virginia’s College at Wise from 2012 through 2016. She currently serves on the Medical Center Operating Board as well as the Presidential Search and Strategic Investment Fund Advisory Committees. She also previously served as the Chairman of the University of Virginia’s Alumni Association Board of Managers. She is a trustee of the Alumni Association’s $250 million Jefferson Trust and participates as an emeritus society member of the Board of WolfTrap Foundation for the Performing Arts.

Victoria received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English, with a concentration in Economics, from the University of Virginia and a Master’s degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Finance, from American University.
