Wayne N. Burton, M.D is a Senior Fellow, Human Capital at The Conference Board. He has over 40 years of experience in healthcare and corporate occupational medicine services, including healthcare data integration, well-being and disease management programs, and integrated disability management. He was Chief Medical Officer for American Express from 2009 to 2017. Prior to that he was Corporate Medical Director for JPMorgan Chase and its legacy banks for more than 25 years.
Dr. Burton is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. He is past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Midwest Business Group on Health, and a past member of the Board of Directors of the National Business Group on Health, and the Board of Directors of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and Institute of Medicine of Chicago.
Since 1978, Dr. Burton has been an associate professor of clinical medicine at Northwestern University Medical School. He’s also an adjunct professor of Environmental & Occupational Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He has authored more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed medical journals on various aspects of employee health and productivity.
