CED Leadership Award
The CED Leadership Award recognizes an individual's exceptional service on CED's Board of Trustees and the special contributions they have made to CED's policy research, outreach and impact programs and the overall governance and administration of our organization.
Peter G. Peterson Business Statesmanship Award
The Business Statesmanship Award was established in honor of Peter G. Peterson, CED's longest-serving Trustee. It recognizes corporate executives who champion issues in the interest of the public good, rather than their company or personal interests, and who hold themselves to the highest standards of ethics and integrity.
In an article that appeared in The Washington Post in 2004, Mr. Peterson asked where had all the "Business Patriots" gone. He remarked that too few corporate CEOs were actively engaging in public policy debates to ensure the country's collective long-term growth and viability. He highlighted Jeff Immelt of General Electric as a CEO who put emphasis on long-term goals and the public's needs as part of GE's business strategy. Immelt was the inaugural recipient of the Business Statesmanship Award in 2005.
