The Health Leadership Council is broadening the view of health in Global organizations. While healthcare benefits are designed to improve health and wellness of people in the workforce, the emphasis has generally been on physical aspects of health and from a medicalized view. Yet, there are dimensions of health which are at risk and not directly covered by benefits. There are significant opportunities for executive leaders to design and execute strategies for improving dimensions of health in the organization, such as social, emotional, financial, and intellectual health, as well as a sense of shared purpose. The Members of the Health Leadership Council bring their shared experience together to evolve a broad view of health and what it means to the success of business in terms of strategies, analytics, and practices.
Social, financial, emotional, and intellectual health, and a sense of purpose, are important dimensions of health and drivers of business value. The Health Leadership Council is addressing 1) why and how to help employees, and the growing proportion of contracted ‘gig workers’, to achieve optimal health, 2) why and how health is key to the business in terms of organizational culture, talent, business success, and market value, and 3) measurement tools for a multi-dimensional view of individual and organizational health.
The Health Leadership Council is a peer network of Chief Medical Officers and Chief Health Officers who have responsibility for health strategy in global organizations. Council members decide an agenda of pressing issues, and based on that agenda, discuss issues from their various perspectives with invited speakers, evolve health strategy, and benchmark strategies and practices. The Council meets in-person 3 times per year for 1 and ½ days. The meetings are designed to support our intent, and our goal is that each council member will take away several important insights to inform his/her practice.

- Job design/redesign and health performance
- Health as a value in the brand
- Strategies and tools for validating dimensions of health for a population segment in an organization
