The Fed Funds rate has risen by 500 basis points since March 2022, the most rapid increase in decades. Still, key parts of the US economy, such as personal income and consumer spending, are resisting the unpredicted tightening in monetary policy that has occurred in the past year.

While the rate of inflation has been cooling, it remains far too high and the path to the Fed’s goal of two-percent inflation may be bumpy. As the full impact of the Fed’s monetary policy tightening continues to unfold, economic activity will slow further.

We forecast this will leave the US economy in a short and shallow recession. Join us to uncover what this recession may look like and determine the prospects of economic stability in 2023 and beyond.
