In this Center Briefing, hosted in collaboration with Hughes Hubbard & Reed, we addressed the (then) current state of antitrust law (including the prevailing US antitrust law; critiques of the current law; and reform initiatives in foreign jurisdictions) and - more importantly – what’s coming down the pike (such as federal legislative initiatives; federal and state enforcement initiatives; foreign reform initiatives’ implications for the US; and what this means for corporate America).

The discussion was led by a panel of leaders in the antitrust field:

  • Avery Gardiner, Chief Counsel, U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee for Competition Policy, Antitrust and Consumer Rights
  • Philip Giordano, Partner, Hughes Hubbard & Reed
  • William Kovacic, Global Competition Professor of Law and Policy, George Washington University Law School; former Chair of the Federal Trade Commission
  • Doug Melamed, Professor of the Practice of Law, Stanford University Law School; former General Counsel, Intel; former Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Antitrust Division, U.S. Department of Justice
  • Maurice Stucke, Douglas A. Blaze Distinguished Professor of Law, University of Tennessee; former Attorney, U.S. Department of Justice
