Managing International ESG Disclosure

May 29, 2024 10:00 AM ET - 12:00 PM ET | Hybrid Meeting

In a recent survey of global C-suite executives, chief legal officers and ESG executives rank international and domestic regulations as the second most impactful issues on their businesses in 2024, only behind inflation. And rightfully so: approximately 3,000 US-based firms will be subject to the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), which requires companies to assess the impact on the company and of the company in 10 ESG areas across their value chain. What’s more, up to 140 jurisdictions around the world are expected to adopt the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) Standards as regulation.

Preparing to comply with these disclosure requirements will be a major undertaking, especially amid significant developments in the domestic ESG regulatory landscape, such as California’s issuance of climate disclosure requirements, and the SEC’s adoption of cybersecurity disclosure rules and climate disclosure rules.

This Roundtable will focus on the state of international ESG disclosure. We will discuss:

  • Update on the CSRD and its compliance timelines, as well as how companies are defining and determining double materiality
  • Update on the ISSB Standards and which jurisdictions have adopted or plan to adopt these Standards
  • How companies are preparing to comply with international ESG disclosure regimes and the key questions they face in this process
  • Progress made by EU-based companies to comply with EU and international ESG disclosure standards and best practices they can share with their US counterparts
