/ Chart

A slowing economy and inflation have CEOs worried: There was virtual consensus that the number one concern for CEOs around the world is the economic downturn and recession. Number 2 is inflation in all areas of the world except China and Japan. With CEOs expectations for a recession high, there is little consensus on when their regions are likely to achieve positive GDP growth. Compared to other regions or countries, CEOs in Japan are most pessimistic, with more than a third expecting a turnaround to occur only beyond mid-2024.
