Corporate Philanthropy in China, 2nd Edition: Creating Impact amid Challenges

Until the past decade or so, China simply didn’t have much of an indigenous nonprofit sector to speak of, and there was very little, if any, public interest in charitable activities. But charitable giving has since increased more than eightfold, and tens of thousands of new organizations have emerged serving a broad range of issues, from strengthening education outcomes for poor and disadvantaged population groups to reducing environmental pollution. This report examines how a lack of transparency and available data complicate corporate philanthropic efforts in China, and it offers corporate donors practical solutions for overcoming information challenges in the current climate.
