We have just published new research in partnership with Korn Ferry about how to address the underrepresentation of women at each phase of the leadership pipeline, from entry level supervisor to the C-suite. With practical advice about what can be done from an organizational perspective, the CHROs and senior HR leaders who participated in the study told us that more attention needs to be paid to the shift from individual contributor to manager and the shift from VP to SVP, as those junctures see the greatest bottlenecks for advancement of women. Providing individual contributors with stretch assignments and VPs with sponsors are two ways to help bridge these gaps.
